THE SHIPS GUILD PAINTING PRIZE

  • 11th June 2025 to 14th June 2025
  • Sailing form the uk to France

This Ships Guild Painting Award is an Art residency onboard the three masted lugger Grayhound. I will spend 2 night s and days aboard sailing from the UK to the Britany coastline.

I won the award for the painting of the Brixham Trawler Vigilance BM76. The ship is on the National Historic Register which records and works to celebrate ships that are over 100 years old.

I captured the ship as it underwent a major restoration project at Sterling and Sons number 1 slipway in Plymouth. The yard its self is famous for being the oldest working covered slipway in the world.

I will post another entry on the paintings and the trip to the boatyard another day, for now I just wanted to announce that I had won artist residency Award aboard the ship.
