Boatyards
Boatyards are a constant in my painting practice. The craftsmanship of the wooden boats. I use the unique lighting of these barns, units and slipways to investigate the heritage of British ship building. I also enjoy the formations of naturally occurring subjects. When wet oil skins sit next to ladders with wellies piled onto ropes while nearby stacked up 12volt batteries form wonderful arrangements to capture. These arrangements excite my brush and palette they challenge my mind while at the same time offering a chance to experiment with technique.
